People.cn on Jun. 15th. (by Yanfei Du andintern Yuan Liang) The 15^th China International EnvironmentalProtection Exhibition and Conference (CIEPE2017) was held on Jun. 13th. Duringthe conference, Mr. Wei Yu, the vice general manager from Beijing New UniversalScience and Technology Ltd (NEWU), was interviewed exclusively by People.cn. Hesaid, NEWU was focusing on the treatment of VOC, increasing the input on theR&D. In the future, NEWU would become one of the environmental suppliers.

Mr. Wei said, NEWU’s featured environmentalequipments were widely used to treat VOCs in rubber and chemical industries.The products included EPA, COA, photo-catalytic oxidation device. 

Now NEWU was focusing on the market segmentof rubber and chemical areas. As the VOCs from different process were verydifferent in the components, NEWU had several corresponding solutions. Forexample, in the rubber mixing workshop, the flow rate was small, the gasconcentration was high. Then EPA was suitable in this condition. In rubberrolling process, the gas was contaminated slightly, but flow rate was high.Then the photo-catalytic oxidation and plasma technologies are more suitable.Until now, there had been many successful industrial projects done by NEWU.

He also mentioned, the project operated inlast December in Wanli Tire was a model project for intelligent manufacturing.The VOCs treatments in the project was accomplished by NEWU and got a highevaluation by the customers.

The VOCs had irritating effect on humansand smelt uncomfortable. There were three main effects on humans andatmosphere. 1. Effect on the cardiovascular system and respiratory system. 2.Source of the fog and haze. 3. Oxidation reaction. The dust removal,desulphurization and denitration were the emphasis in the twelfth Five-YearPlan. Then the VOCs removal would be the emphasis in the thirteen Five-YearPlan.

VOCs treatment technology drew a lot ofNEWU’s attention. With many adventures from the policy, NEWU increase the inputon the investment and R&D. NEWU needed the core technology to keep theposition in the industry. The company input 3% to 5% of operating cost onR&D. Ex. EPA was invented and used by many customers. It accomplished a lotof good response.

Environmental protection benefited theearth humanity. Down to VOCs, the related technology was just starting. Theemphasis on VOCs was not enough. As the economy, policy and legislation weredeveloping fast, the population’s cultivation and technologies were improving,and the enterprise’s and people’s understanding of VOCs and environment will bedeeper.

As a responsible enterprise, it should havesustainable development concept and social responsibility. From now on, wewould invest more R&D and funds in environmental aspect and take moresocial responsibility.

Talking about the future plan for NEWU’senvironmental area, he said, NEWU was paying more and more attention on theenvironmental industry. In the future, NEWU will become environmental serviceprovider from project contractor. This would help finance lease, PPP andconsulting projects. This was the direction of long-term development.
